I used to work for a duct cleaning company and the joke was" we got their money!". I do HVAC work as well and the truth is, having your ducts cleaned can help if you suffer from allergies or upper respiratory problems, but its really not worth the money unless your ducts are really dirty. If you see a LOT of dust on your returns you probably need to get a cleaning. You can always use a vacuum to clean your returns, and make sure you change your filters often. I personally don't recommend a duct cleaning unless the house is REALLY old and the returns are filthy!

Duct cleaning, when done correctly removes the dust and debris that has settled in the duct work over time. One way to check is to lift the covers and run a vacuum hose down into several ducts and measure the amount of material that is picked up. If very little is found then you probably do not need the ducts cleaned, otherwise it is your decision.

i do no longer think of that is worth doing. there is a lot air flowing by furnace or A/C ducts, that no longer lots dirt accumulates, and any dirt that does settle in there and manages to no longer be blown out, will stay positioned and not be a topic. it incredibly is all assuming that the air being pushed for the time of the device is going by a filter out. If there is not any filter out, then massive fibers of dirt can deliver jointly and capture different fibers and finally slender the ducts adequate to electrify the flow value. that is between the justifications for having a filter out in the device. replace: you do no longer could exchange filters as quickly as a month in an area of residing - as quickly as a season is adequate, till you're working a kennel or some very dusty domicile business enterprise.

As long as the previous tenants changed the filters often the return air should be clean enough that you don't really need to have them cleaned.

It's really not necessary to clean them except in a few instances. For example, if you had your hardwood floor re-finished, or there was a lot a drywall sanding done, etc. And of course for medical reasons.

No its not you should just have them replaced. I use to work at an air condition company and they would not clean them. They wrip every ealsily and the dust will go all in your house. Then you will have to replace them any ways.
