I just got to thinking if oil pastels are wet or dry media when I was going to use a certian paper that said 'dry media only'....(or it will buckle)... and I sometimes like to use terps with them to think them out....are they wet or dry? LOL! Also, can you use them on paper or will it rot it? Any advice please?? Thanks!

Well, oil pastels can be treated either as dry or wet. While the oil in oil pastels isn't technically wet, it does remain tacky to the touch. If you use a thinner with the oil pastels, I would say it is wet.

I think of them as a fairly dry media, but once you thin them with turpentine or anything else, I'd say they are wet media then.
