Sometimes I'll just be working on the computer and listening to the radio then all of a sudden my radio makes this crazy screeching sound and it normally lasts for about 5 seconds then goes back to playing music, but its really weird. Any ideas what could be causing this? I've moved my radio away from the computer, but that didn't help. Are aliens trying to comunicate with me?

if it only happens when the computer is on, then the computer is the cause. the speed at which computers process data is so fast that the electrical transitions are at radio frequencies. i once was operator for a minicomputer whose manufacturer offered a program that would modulate the processing in a way to make music play out of any nearby radio. you programmed it something like a midi synth. in the USA, the FCC has cracked down on computer emissions so that they rarely cause the problem, but sometimes the RF sneaks out the wires that are plugged-in.

I doubt it is aliens. Do you have a cell phone? Is your cell near the radio? Most cells connect with towers occasionally to update their time and date. This will disrupt your radio's reception and you will hear a buzz or screech. If you are sure that isn't the issue there are a lot of electronic devices that can disrupt radio reception. It could even be your neighbor's garage door opener!

I think it called rock and roll. Either that or your speakers are about to blow.
