I am seeking clarification..... My life long friend has a problem infection and has been operated on at least six times in thirty years. The infection never heals and ozzes puss almost daily. At least one day a week he spends the day soaking to relieve presure and release the puss. He is sore the few days prior and for a day afterwards. The jobs he has tried have not worked for him or the employer he is just not dependable. on a day when his puss is not running out his back side you would think he looks employable and he needs some money to get him by....What are his options?

Social security is for retirement and for people who cannot work due to a physical or mental problem.

He needs to go to the social security office or call them and they will explain what he needs to do. It is sometimes very hard to get approved for disability so it depends on his situation. His doctor should be able to help him by completing the medical part of the forms.
Good luck

Social security is for retired people. DIsablility is for that situation. He would need a note from his doctor to state he is unable to work.

It can be for a lot of things. My mom, for example, get's S.S. every month since my dad died and she still has kids to raise.
