It is too late to make dada the captain now. The world cup is just a few weeks away and changing the captaincy at this juncture would not be all that a good idea. Since, dada is now already in the team he can always motivate the younger players and guide Rahul Dravid even as a playing member. He does not have to be a captain to do the above. Moreover, his past experience as a captain in the previous World Cup can definitely help Rahul Dravid.

Hence the authorities have taken a correct decision to retain Dravid as captain for the world cup.

It is for the selectors to do the selection of captain.
It is a good idea to have Sauav Ganguly as captain. But you know Rahul Dravid is present captain and without taking consent from him it is not correct to do that. Sourav Ganguly stated that he will be happy to play under any captain whereas Rahul Dravid has not told anything about captaincy.
I think since Rahul Dravid is LEO (Simma Rasi) he can work hard and win the World Cup for India in 2007. But performance from the entire team is needed to win the World Cup 2007.
Cricket game is a team game and all players will have to perform for winning the tournament.

I agree that Saurav has made an emphatic comeback to the indian team and he is really peaking at the right time. Nevertheless making him the captain would not be a wise choice as it can have negative effects on the team. Some of them could be :
It could break the rhythm of Saurav as he is more focused on his batting now. At this moment India needs Saurav the batsman more than saurav the captain.
Secondly it would demotivate Dravid to an extent as he has been doing a fair job and removing him from captaincy right at the outset of the world cup would be a drastic step.

hey this is totally my opinion-no offence..well dada himself has accepted that he does want to do captaincy anymore, well he has had his time, its dravid's turn.and anyway, its not abt ego..also he says that he has just made a come back, being the captain is a lot of pressure, and only after he really does better for long, will he be able to do the true comeback..maybe there is some other reason, but he clear when he says that he does not want to be the captain now..well since the world cup is so close, according to me it would be good if drastic changes were not made in the team..

Please understand, cricket is a team game and captain does make some difference but not to the extent that it would change the course of the match. Only a player can change the course of the match. You need motivators, but that could come from any player and that player need not be a captain.
Who is motivator? One who sets example. One who you guides you. One who gives you encouragement, when one is down, etc.
With Ganguly and Sachin at the field, they could guide Dravid. Hence, let Dravid be incharge at field, but he should be open to advise from his senior players. Above all, team players have to play their part, as cricket is a team game, and world cup could be ours.
Look at from this angle, the captain makes all right moves of bringing in the right bowler at right time. the change in field as per the bowlers recommendation and bowler instead of bowling to his off side ball, bowls on the leg side. Can captain be blamed for this.
Similarly, you need to score 8 runs per over and a big hitter like Dhoni is sent ahead of others and he gets out first ball. Whom would you blame?

Yes, Ganguly is good if he becomes the new caption for the 2007 World Cup because the last World Cup Ganguly only bought to the finals.

Last world cup he was the captain. Let Dravid get chance this time. He is not proved himself a leader. Now he is showing this all to get a berth in the side.
