My opinion is that it's mental; some physical pain can cause mental anguish. Also, physical anguish has a clear cause, once it's been found. Mental anguish cannot always be pegged and may never be; psychology is a very tricky and imperfect science because we know so little of what really goes on in the mind.

I would think that mental anguish would be worse since physical can heal more quickly than the mental.Physical injuries may be painful and hurt for the time frame that it takes for the wound to heal but when you are dealing with mental issues or emotions it takes a longer type of healing process to occur. So my answer would definitely be mental anguish.

I think mental anguish, hands down. Physical pain can be alleviated. But losing a loved one, or being betrayed leaves an anguish in our hearts that nothing but time can heal. If time CAN even heal it. I bet there are far more suicides due to depression or emotional issues than because of physical pain one doesn't want to bear. Because there is no real escape.

If one is worse, which is better?
I say they are anguish; stop the anguishing. Put pressure on the wound, don't stand around hypothosizing about better or worse.
