Yes, i totally concur with your question. My wife and i used to do a lot of fell and hill-walking, on one occasion while doing the Dales Way we met three Brummies Ray his friend John and his Son. John was an ex-copper and couldn't believe how every one he met said Hello, Good Morning or whatever, which is quite usual while out walking. He said usually people would say Good Morning and then pull a knife out and suggest you gave up your wallet. But has you rightly say the World would be a better place a little civility does a lot of good and doesn't cost anything.

You should live in our village..we all greet each other every day, even strangers. They sometimes give you a funny look as if it's the first time anyone has said 'Hello, how are you?' to them.
Sad times we live in..I'd hate to live in a city.

i totally agree I cant stand people who walk down the street like they want to kill somebody. i mean you dont even have to give poeple a greeting, a simple smile will do the trick. doesn't it make you smile when someone smiles at you. but its just a sad reflection of todays society.

People could greet each other but no one would really mean it. Nowadays everyone's stabbing each other in the back, usually over money.

hi,
yew you have a good idea there . it is like what Oprah tire to do in one of her shews . where she said give kindness to receive kindness, if we all tried just as hare to care about mankind instead of trying to hate each other then maybe this world would be a better place.

Yes it would be! A nice hello and a smile would work better than pushing past people and pretending they're not there.

There was a time when we did say 'good morning' etc if we passed someone on the pavement. Nowadays we all keep our eyes down in case we are accused of lack of 'respec'.
