started a war to keep slaves
killed the president that freed the slaves.
The KKK was started as the militant arm of the democrat party.
Democrats conceived and implement the forced relocation and genocide of the native Americans.
The democrats forced thousands of Japanese American citizens into interment camps
.
The democrats opposed the civil rights act , the voting rights act, desegregation etc.
The democrat party has KKK members in congress (R. Byrd )
saying " the overwelming majority of bigots are republicans" is in itself bigotry.

I would just like to say that I am very very poor, and am a republican. I hate that people tend to think that republicans have all this money, my family made under 30,000 this year, way under, and have 5 people... You do the math...
Republicans have never done anything to me, in fact, if anything, they have done alot for me.
As for being bigots, no... Democrats are the ones who seem to think anyone who has an opionion different then them that they should not be able to say it, in schools, in government buildings, ect... If I am correct, that is being intolerent and a bigot...

Well, I'm not sure that I agree with your thesis here, that most Republicans are bigots. It is true, however, that they have been kicking gays and using them as a wedge issue -- for example. That's crass, but I don't think it's bigoted. It's a means to gain power, IMO. That and a need in human nature to always have a group lower on the totem pole than yours. That's repeated over and over in history -- the high-class Romans had the plebs to look down on, the poor white people of the post-Civil War South had the freed slaves. It's a shame. But to say that most Republicans are bigoted is a short-sighted argument.

When it comes down to it skunks come in all stripes. The Democratic Party has its share of skunks too. Until recently your statement about Republicans would be true in the South if you put Democratic instead of Republican. Today the South has changed and while they have become more Republican many have also mended their ways with regard to bigotry. They still have bigots in the Democratic Party. From what I have seen it is about 50/50.

does Democrat sen. byrd ring a bell. the grand dragon. without
the republicans help, they were able to push through civil rights bill. the democrates held the house and couldn't get enough votes from their party to pass. short memory!!!!!!! just because you disagree with affirmative action ,makes you a bigot. that's why the media make a republican a bigot. democrates make a remark which was a misspoke it's ok. all is forgiven. let a republican make the same type of statement
he ask to resign
or wear sack cloth.

"Overwhelming majority?" Who's the bigot now? Your information is totally false! I resent your statement.
You may feel comfortable is saying that but you are WRONG!!! I am not a bigot and I am not a racist!!!!!! There is no "tendency" of a group of people to be a bigot or a racist. HOW DARE YOU!!!

I think it's the conservative elitist tendancy we see from many republicans now. What are conservative republicans against, Gays, Immigrants, (black presiential candidates...Go Obama). Why would a bigot choose another party? It's funny to hear people disagree though and while not every bigot is a republican, how many democrat bigots do you know?

Do you have proof for your statements?
Have you talked to all the bigots? What about all the bigots that don't SAY they're bigots? Did you count them?
What about some of the most well known bigots being Democrats? Does that not count?
There are ignorant people (bigots) on all sides of the aisle. To say that most are Republicans is not something that can be proven. Thanks!

Bigots and racists come in all flavors: white, black, green, purple, Republican, Democrat, Independent, gay, straight, young, and old, men and women.
I have a friend who is a Liberal, organic farmer, and fights against injustice; but, is racist. I could not believe it.
So don't generalize. Stupidity comes in all forms.
