I've got a pair made by Roadgear. Very light in weight and surprisingly thin. I cannot believe how warm they are. I've worn them in cold rain storms and my hands stayed completely dry. In single digit (degrees F) temps my hands are warm and comfortable. No loss of motion or feel on the controls.

I have a heavy pair of cold-weather, water-resistant gauntlets from Joe Rocket that work well for me, but I also have electrically heated grips on my motorcycle (BMW) for cold weather riding. It takes a few minutes for the heat from the grips to penetrate through the heavy leather gloves, but once it does, my hands are toasty warm all day long, even when riding in freezing temps.
Some friends with lesser motorcycles also swear by heated gloves from companies such as Gerbing's in Union, WA. Gerbing's manufactures a complete line of heated clothing, including gloves, socks, coats and pants that can be plugged into your bike's electrical system, or operated from a battery pack.
Check out their products at the following web site...

I bought some thick waterproof gloves from Wal-Mart for 12.95. They're not motorcycle gloves per se but I've ridden down to 25 degrees for 1/2 hour and my fingers never got cold. Keep in my that if water can't get through then neither can air.

Tourmaster makes a good set of cold weather gloves - I ride to work in about 35-40* and they keep my hands from freezing... You may also want to consider Widder electric gloves, or snowmobile gloves if you want to go cheap... The Widders are around $150....

For gloves that a designed for really really cold and manipulating the controls of the bike you may want to consider Snowmobile gloves. They are relatively cheap and warm. http://www.cyclemartusa.com/shop/productlist.htm?browse=19857&shopBy=3570&catalogId=482
