I agree 100%. I am sick and tired of my tax dollars being spent on government programs that have to hire interpreters to we can GIVE our hard earned TAX dollars away to illegals. Think about all those pamphlets that our government prints every year in Spanish for people applying for food stamps, welfare, and other public benefits because they cant get a job because they DON’T SPEAK ENGLISH! Hell, look at your labor laws and anti discrimination posters that are required for businesses to post at their business…..they have to have one in English and the other in Spanish, IT”S THE LAW and it’s wrong. I was even told that I need to take a Spanish class to learn basic Spanish for my job. I told my boss that I wasn’t going to do it because I am not Spanish and unless he was planning on sending me an all expense paid trip to Mexico, I see no need to learn the language! No, I didn’t get fired and there would have been one hell of a civil rights lawsuit on their hands if they had tried.

I hate how intolerant and ignorant some people can be. Go to Cuba or Mexico and stay there for a couple of days; after doing so you will understand that they are not here only for money, citizenship or a new language. They just want live the freedom you and I were born with. They are not dumber than us just because of not knowing English. Have compassion and thank God you are not on their shoes.

This actually happened, a person was murdered, and the person who was purchasing gas and cigarettes had trouble with the gas pump and didn't have enough money with him and he was arguing with the clerk, someone noticed this person was very drunk called the police, they arrived and noticed that the person understood what the clerk was saying in english perfect, and the officer noticed blood on this person, and further searched and the dead persons purse, credit cards were in this person vehicle, and his cell phone was at the crime scene, but low and behold when he was picked up for DUI, he suddenly didn't speak the english language, he is a mexican, lived in several places, his landlords or employer did not admit to knowing him either. Enough said send them packing. It also allows the class rooms to slow down the learning pace for real American Citizens (our future, our children)!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yes, I think they should learn english as well. It's not fair that we Americans have to learn spanish against our will to cater to illegal people. This is the United States of America and we speak ENGLISH and nothing else. If they don't want to learn english then they should go back where they came so they can speak their language there.

I think ALL IMMIGRANTS (and their offspring) should be required to learn AND USE English, but I also think that a second language should be mandatory in our schools, as well. We, as Americans, SUCK at language, compared to other nations. In Norway, you MUST learn not only Norwegian, but German and English as well. I think it would be good for little children to start young learning Spanish, as we have so many Spanish-speaking immigrants. And I think it would encourage Spanish-speaking immigrants to try and learn our language, when they see us doing the same. When I visit or live in a foreign country, I learn at least a few phrases in their language, and use it to the natives. It shows that at least I am trying, and then they try harder to communicate with me.

I am Puerto Rican and British. I have lived in the US all of my life. I am bilingual, too. I think that it is not such a hard thing to do to be able to speak more than one language. They have the same roots. I agree to a point. But when you have left everything and everyone you have ever known, it may feel good to cling to the one thing you do know and have.

If you can't speak the language you don't belong here. As was stated earlier they don't want to be Americans they just want our jobs and money to send back home and bring their leeching relatives here to leech somemore.
