I have been debating about a career path. First I wanted to be a 1st grade teacher and realized that I don't like kids too much anymore. Then I was thinking of Psychology. Can someone tell me alittle about it, I know there are many different fields and I have always done real well in my Psych classes. I am so confused!!

Psychiatrist have the highest salary, although this requires Med school. The other option is a Psychologist which does not require Med school, but you do need a PhD, you can do it in about 3-5 years after undergrad, depending on many factors. Both of these jobs you can expect to make more than the $50k mark someone gave earlier, just not right away, and it is also the profession with the most (4 out of 10 I believe) people to own their own practice, compared with a medical doctor (only 1 out of 10). Another option is I/O psychology, probably a faster route to earning more money, since this deals more with business.

You can use Psych as a spring board for many careers, including: counseling, social work, HR support, and the like. Just depends on what you really like to do.

I would love to be a psychologist but it takes too long and too expensive plus it doesn't get paid that much...and patients may not like you. You would need to have very good contacts and expecta salary of 50,000 a year depending on where you live.
