so my 2 year contract with cingular has ended and i am looking for a different option... i've had cingular since 1999 but kept changing contracts due to personal reasons. anyhow about 90% of my calls are always dropped or i do not get them... i pay about $90 a month (family plan with one other) and i always have roll over min btw.. ive switched phones twice and i'm starting to think that it isnt my phone... do you know if they do discounts for my kind of problems?

back to the point. ive seen the t-mobile, chose 5 people for unlimited calls and it seems like a great deal since i do not talk to alot of different people. are there any tricks behind this plan? is it as good as it seems? i'm thinking i wouldnt need the unlimited nights and weekends if i had the 5 unlimited if i kept other calls short and sweet. i think it would be alot cheaper and better?

any feedback or personal experiences with this would help greatly thanks!

T-Mobile is great if your in a metropolitan area most of the time. Get into a rual area or travel and you may find you have no signal. They are the 6th largest cell company based on thier own tower network. 3rd largest if you include thier roaming capabilities with other companies and cover mostly metro areas. Cingular and Verizon have the largest non roaming networks. Cingular has about 58 million customers, Verizon has about 46 million customers, so check around for your circumstances and needs. The problem maynot be with your network, but with you! If you leave your phone on 24/7, you are not current on your IRDB settings and this will cause dropped calls, call failure, static and echoing. Call your service provider and have them push the current IRDB's to your phone, then turn your phone off daily for 15/20 minutes to stay current on the settings. Hope this helps.

I had Cingular as well, now I am going to Verizon, although they are not cheaper than T-Mobile they are the best in the area where I am constantly at, I also travel a lot and Verizon has not had any problems where I go. In a recent study though, Verizon and T-Mobile both were at the top, with Verizon being better by just a few percent point. The one thing about T-Mobile's My Fav 5 is that you don't get free mobile to mobile, I believe you have to pay extra for that option, but if you don't talk all that much to other people than in your 5 it wouldn't matter much. Although I recommend Verizon, you don't state in which area you live in, that has a huge impact on which providers to choose from.

I think T-Mobile's network sucks. I had T-Mobile for a while. I never had more than 2 or 3 bars at a time. In a lot of places in didn't have any. I recommend Verizon or Alltel.

tmobile is a really good deal! It never drops any calls and no, there are no tricks. The unlimited nights and weekends are automatic and it comes free. Tmobile is also a lot cheaper than any of the cell providers i've tried and you can call anyone who has tmobile for free also at any time.
