However, I truly doubt that you meant the question as asked. After all, you did post this question, so you obviously know perfectly well what a question is.
If you are asking on a philosophical level, I would say that a question is a tool that one uses in the search for knowledge.

"Toxic" above is partially right. A question is intended to obtain information, knowledge, and understanding by asking yourself or others about something of interest. Asking questions comes from *a desire to know and understand *(aka curiosity) about something or someone which is not clear to or is unknown to the person asking.
