Do I need an attorny to get a supeana for tax record? My ex refuses to give me the info and I can not ask his employer, for he is him employer. He has 2 kids with me and I need to modify child support. He does not see either kids and I have to keep taking him back to court just so he will pay his portion of the medical bills. What what is my best bet to get a copy of his W-2's.

You need a lawyer to petition for a supoena in Federal Court. They are bad that way, they will not recognize you right to petition the court on your behalf with putting you through extensive machinations before giving you a hearing. Get a lawyer you'll save a lot of time over trying to petition Federal Courts on your own behalf

You definately need to get a lawyer on this or if you are adament about going forward pro se then you need to put a petition into the court to have the judge order your ex to give you the information. However, I am not understanding why you need this information prior to putting the petition to modify into family court. In all my experience, myself and working for a law office, you put the petition in and they find where he's been working and get his info directly from his employers or the court sends him paperwork that he must comply with or he'll be in contempt.

You will never get his tax records.
No judge in the world has that sort of power.
Contact the District Attorney office child support division.

Technically, the IRS doesn't have to show any government agency anything...however, your local court could order your x to cough up his w-2's. good luck.
