I got a 512 mb pc3200 memory in my MB. Im looking to buy a 1gb memory to make it 1.5gb. Is it possible to to have 1X512 and 1X1Gb into a computer?

in fact i have 2x256 (dual channel) and 1x512 in mine....

It depends primarily on your Motherboard capabilities.

You need to review your MoBo specs. Usually this will be in the form of a booklet, or it will be on a CD that came with your PC when you bought it. Worst case is to go to the MoBo manufacturers web site and get the specifics.

Newer PC's will usually have 4 RAM slots capable of 1G of RAM each. However, some types of RAM may require you to install it in matching pairs. An example of a type of that RAM is Dual Channel which usually requires matching pairs of RAM modules.

You can also use RAM analysis utilities on the following sites. They are quite reliable as to the type of RAM you have, how much RAM is in each slot, and what you type of RAM you should order. Just check your MoBo manual to see if there are any RAM size limitations.

Yes, though it's usually best to have identical modules, like 2x512, 2x1GB, etc.
