I believe it is possible, but I think something needs to trigger that empowerment. Some day the women may realize in India how they are treated and finally react like so: "I'm tired of dealing with this male dominance crap, and I'm not taking it anymore....let the men deal with it if there sooo freakin' great." Not the exact words of course but you get the drift. At the current moment however, women in India are allowing themselves to be controlled because it is simply old customs, their mothers, grandmothers, great great grandmothers all were dominated because of the lower status. Furthermore women in India fear men; the men treat their wives as property than a equal spouse. So I really think that something really explosive has to trigger the women in India to stand up for themselves, and it may happen soon due to the advanced technology and the way some women are being well treated and maybe Indian women will see that and want the same.

‘Women empowerment’ sounded like a distant reality until women thought of fighting against the social norms and emerging as independent individuals. For the past 199,880 years women have been dominated by men and used by them as their property.
Today just after few decades, women are competing with men in every field. With the amendment of women friendly laws they have overcome their inferiority and inhibitions. Now they rank among the richest people, run huge corporations and can hold more number of degrees than men. In the male-dominated field of technology, few women have successfully broken the stereotypic notion and made a difference. One such example is Yahoo CEO, Marissa Mayer. The message that underlies is that ‘WOMEN HAVE DONE THIS FOR THEMSELVES’.
Although women have achieved so much in the past decades, still there are sections left which needs development. There are many organizations like ALL which works for the upliftment of women in the society and promote women leadership so that they can become active change agents of the society. The Global Chairperson of ALL, Ms. Harbeen Arora, leads lot of activities related to education and women empowerment. She is deeply concerned for the underprivileged sections and is working towards their upliftment. For more details open the link: http://www.aall.in/

Nothing is impossible. So is women's empowerment. Women who want to be empowered already are . There is another whole lot who sit idle, and feel they are not. It takes men and women of mettle to be empowered. Empowerment is not something that someone else lays easily out for others on a golden platter. One has to earn it for oneself. And, for that, sometimes ........say.... know to fix a flat tyre, stand in queues and not demand a separate queue for the sissies, and sweat it out in the competitive world. There are so many millions of women who are empowered in India, and there so many millions of men who are not. There are so many fantastic women who are empowered going to offices and workplaces, and there are even many many more who feel even more empowered being wonderful homemakers, wives, mothers and grandmothers. Yes, there are many men too, who need education and support to give them greater opportunities to dream big and chase their dreams. This empowerment stuff for women alone is a farce. One can't demand to be empowered, just as one can't demand to be Bill Gates or for that matter Hillary Clinton, Indira Gandhi or Mother Theresa ............. they choose to be. So lets all work it up.

Have you ever seen Titanic? Rose i would say was A status, and what's his face (the character Leonardo DiCaprio played) was C status. They fell in love. In true love, status doesn't matter. "Love knows no boundaries."

If the women want it, and demand it...many things are possible. Western women didn't always have it.
