It is about the lifestyle. It all says comfort. The clothes have room to move, The rappers are wearing lots of bling, which symbolizes success economically. They drive luxury cars. The rappers are saying, "Hey, look at us! Look at what we have overcome!" It is about strength and accomplishment. But the rappers have had to live in many horrible neighborhoods, forced by poverty to steal, to kill, to sell drugs in order to survive. Because of racism, so many blacks still live that life. Once the racism disappears, the lines blur, and we accept each other regardless of skin color, maybe eventually, the rap (which I happen to like) will not be about the violence anymore, because it will rarely exist anymore. We are well on our way, though.
But white kids want some power. The more often something is seen or worn, the cooler it gets. So if these clothes are "cool," regardless of skin color, everyone will want them.

Because...honestly...being in a middle school and knowing people who do those things...they are pretty much losers. Now what is "cool" to people is rap music, baggy pants, gangster stuff. But what ive found is its not the jock jerks, or the gangsters that are cool, its the people who are just who they are and hang out with people they like, not people they think are "cool". People who try to be white gangsters just are insecure of who they really are and have abandoned hope and tried to fit in with the majority of the crowd. Sorry thing to do isnt it?

Rap is just a genre of music- it doesnt BELONG to any one group of people. The key thing you pointed out has to do with age.. Many more young people across ALL races listen to rap/hip-hop, it is more of a youth culture than anything else.

For some reason they think its cool.
I dont like rap (i dont like adding the music part, due to its lack of intelligent or structure lyrics, instrumental talent other than computer sound effects, and vocals, though female vocals in the chorus is quite common.)
I asked myself that question, and I thought all this complicated crap, like they dont have a set culture and their trying to adopt one, but then you think how simple man is... they see hot women with these male rappers, they think, wow he has hot women, I need to be like him.

Media Brainwashing... why they are using rap... I dont know, maybe because the general public are stupid, and the meaningless babble in 99% of rap suits them (I say 99% of rap, because there are some lyrics that are actually half decent, though it is rare)

Because, this generation has been raised by TV's and NOT parents.
They look around and see blacks living it up on welfare, foodstamps,WAGES, SSI, free houseing, pimped cars , satilite TV, cell phones, gold around their necks and in their teeth, wads of cash, and with the attitude that "the Govs owes me moe"
