Sorry..I dont get it. His is half African (father) and half white (mother) but he has a black wife and two black children. When I look at him I think it is super obvious that he is black. You cant miss it. So why do they even pose the question. It's almost like asking..is George Bush white enough. He's quite obviously white. Someone..please enlighten me?

Its not just a skin color they are referring to. Clinton has many times been called the first black president, lol.
Its about presentation more than anything. When people think of black men, they automatically think Snoop Dog. They expect black men to "represent". Which is just ridiculous.

Barack Obama is a politician that is nothing like recent democratic Black political figures Like Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton. He is not a civil rights activist. His message is directed to all Americans, and the issues he addresses are not limited to those that are African American. The same has been said of our current secretary of state (condie), and Colin Powell.

I believe that this is a reference to the fact that Barack Obama's family recently (past 50 years not sure when) immigrated to the US.

Therefore his ancestors were not affected by slavery in this country. Thus saying that he hasn't had the bad experiences shared by people who have in whole or part descended from slaves.

They are asking if black Americans will relate to him and therefore support him. He only gets this question from white reporters. They are being sincere with the question and not trying to insult Obama.

It's meant as an insult (i'm tired of PC sugar coating the truth)
simply because in black america's opinon he wasn't held down by "the man" enough to be black in thier eyes.

Well, several black writers have said he hasn't lived the American black experience. One went so far as to call him an "adopted brother".

he is not black enough for black people to relate to. pulling out a little mat and praying towards mecca 5 time per day does not help either.
