This is a political question. Before our first president people lived without policy only with law. Now after 43 presidents we seem to be in disarray, in my opinion. What is your opinion?

A general decline in morality, from the top down, brought about by lawyers and corporations.

In the Native American world, we don't see much difference. The hatred and genocide have hardly gotten any more sophisticated, and the opposition to anything that we try to do for ourselves is attacked by bigots (the squatters who stole our land).

My opinion is that you need a better sense of history. We haven't been a nation for 300 years. And prior to 1776, we still had government. We were governed by British lords and subject to the monarchy.

Yes, we are in disarray at the moment. But it isn't the first time, and it isn't the worst time. The US civil war was a time of much worse disarray than today, as was 1968. This is the worst it has been since '68, but we still haven't sunk that low. We will recover as a people.

With a democracy by it's very makeup there are laws filled with loopholes that cater to the people making the laws. The loopholes become policy and in time supercede the laws that were there to help the general society. That is precisely why we are in the state of affairs that we are in at this time.

The reason stuff in Washington goes from bad to worse is there are alot of stupid people in our country who keep voting the same people back to Washington. The biggest problem with Americans is that most of us don't pay attention to what goes on in Washington, which to our detriment is why we keep getting dumped on by politicians on both sides of the aisle. If you as me there should be term limits on congress. If you want to get fresh ideas in you have to get the garbage out, and there is alot of garbage that has been there too long.

Because actually....Governing bodies have ALWAYS sat at the top looking down a the Peons and told them what needed to be done to live a happy life and then lied to them, promised, and manipulated them so as to be kept fed and living in the lap of luxury...name one Governing body ( one that lives as it's subjects - with commonality, rich, poor whatever) that ever existed. Has there ever been a ruler that didn't collect taxes, expect human sacrifices, order their people to erect monuments in their honor and on and on? I think not..someone always makes the rules to benefit themselves. However everyone needs to be kept in check...even the leaders of Man.

absolutely you are correct. the 'democratic' system we have (actually very much a fascism one, but shhhh) on the whole, makes matters worse for the populous. though some things are better with what we got, many more things are definitely worse. if only the ones in power agreed that power should not be held, lol.

We, as a society, expect more from our politicians than we do from ourselves. Think of it this way -- politicians aren't chosen on their merit, their real world experience, none of it. They are chosen by popular demand, and we pay a hefty price for it.

People can promise to make changes, but because the government fights amongst themselves, nothing really ever gets done.

I think society needs to step up a notch and put aside celeb and the entertainment industry obsession and work on our laws and the government.

This country was founded on freedom and we have very little left. I have been to China several times and believe it or not, in some ways they have more freedoms over there.

it is my opinion that if people do not care enough to get involved, they still have freedom of speech, but words without action are empty and useless. people are always whining about the gov, the politicians, but all they do is whine. you do nothing about what you are whining about.
