We had a clog in our main line, and sewage backed up into a bathtub. Is there any way I can clean it without having to scoop it up? It is pretty gross. No, not pretty gross. VERY gross. the word "pretty" does not belong in a sentence describing it. :)

Once I get the sewage out, I know how to clean it from there (lots of bleach and no baths for awhile). Yech. What would Mr. Monk do?

Scoop it up, put into heavy plastic bags (or even plastic containers, if it's particularly bad). I know that it's not pleasant, but it's the best way to go.

You could try to wash it back down the drain, but chances are it'll clog.

So, get out the goggles and nose clips. Get a dust pan and scoop it up. When you've got all of the solids/semi-solids, then you can wash it down, scrub with bleach, etc.

Easy. Just spray some Tuf Tuff mixed with Dr. Mechanic.

You will see a totally clean bathtub.

If you have a wet/dry shop vac you could use that. Then there is the scented kitty litter soak up with the big gloves & the plastic hand dust bin/brush method. Wear dark glasses, light some scented candles. Mike Rowe is my hero - he dives into any 'Dirty Jobs'.

if your pipes are clear , open a window and turn the water on in the tub it should mix and flow away itself, with the occasional stir at the plughole to prevent choking ( use a mop or something with a long handle and try not to splash )

Can you use a small plunger to let the remaining "GUNK" go down the drain? And yes, you have that right.. Plenty of Bleach afterwards.
