Just how exactly is Michael Vick a dual threat? There is not a defensive coordinator in the league that is afraid of Michael Vick's arm.
Now Steve Young, Roger Staubach, and even Randall Cunningham - those guys could actually THROW the ball AND run

Vick a d-t?! Ha!
ok, that was a bit uncalled for because it's already been said a good few times, but w/e :D. Anyway, Vince Young probably will be eventually, McNabb definitely is, Culpepper is if healthy (well, was, because even if he's healthy enough to start again, he might not be as mobile after multiple surgeries). Steve McNair can move when he has to (though he's gotten old). Not many QBs actually run though, it's more of a case of being "mobile" behind the line of scrimmage (which then many more QBs fit this bill --Jake Plummer, etc.)

I agree that you are stretching the concept to say that Vick is a dual threat. Vince Young has shown more duality than Vick but the jury is still out on that one. Garcia at Philly and McNabb are dual threats and have to be treated as such, other quarterbacks have the ability but are limited in their opportunity to be a runner. Their value to the team is with the arm and leadership. Vick is a good runner who needs to develop passing skill to be considered a dual threat.

Yes Madden 2004, WAS THE BIGGEST VIDEO GAME GLITCH EVER, he never was a passing threat, and now with aging, every time he runs he risks breaking another leg. Worst quarterback in the league. Vince Young still needs to prove himself. I would say the only one close to a dual threat would McNabb, because he can throw the ball too. Otherwise I would agree Steve Young is the prime definition of a dual threat.

Michael Vick is not a dual threat QB. He is a running back that takes the snap. LT is more of a dual threat QB than Michael Vick. When Vick goes three consecutive season completeing over 50% of his passes then he can be considered a dual threat QB. But I don't see Ron Mexico, as he likes to be calles when he's stoned, doing that anytime soon.

Drew Bledsoe!
Yeah. If you believe that, I have some oceanside property to sell you in Topeka.
Seriously, the "dual threat" quarterback is rare in the NFL. Pre-injury, Miami's Culpepper (who was in Minnesota at the time) and Philadelphia's McNabb would count as answers. Also, a younger McNair (ironically, it's Young who replaced him in Tennessee) would count as an answer.
To me, a good "dual threat" doesn't have to run fast. He just has to run smart. In that regard, I submit the following candidates: Tony Romo in Dallas, David Garrard in Jacksonville, and Jay Cutler in Denver.
Also, I'm disputing your claim that Michael Vick is a dual threat. Dual threats have to be able to pass, and Vick hasn't shown that he can (although part of the blame goes to Atlanta's lack of quality receivers, but Vick is not immune to blame because Brett Favre has worked with less than what Vick has now before Green Bay discovered Donald Driver).
In conclusion, I submit my list of top-5 dual threat quarterbacks.
1. Vince Young
2. Tony Romo
3. Jay Cutler
4. David Garrard
5. Donovan McNabb (of course, if he can shed the injury bug, he'll immediately jump up to #2 and challenge Young for the top spot)

Unless you are referring to his ability to throw coaches and fans under the bus then i am guessing you arent watching the same Mike Vick as the rest of us. His throwing mechanics are horrible and he has had 6 years to improve his field awareness when passing and still is one of the worst passers in the game. I would agree that he has a cannon arm but it does no good if he cant throw accurately or read defenses well enough to exploit coverage problems....he is the modern day Jeff George (one would think Atlanta fans could recognize this). If he were converted to a utility back in the mold of Reggie Bush he would be one of the games best, his wheels are far better than his passing ability. Seriously....as long as Atlanta sticks with him at QB they have no legitimate shot at being a Super Bowl contender. Good defenses can shut down teams that cant throw, and big arm or not Mike Vick cant throw!

I think that the Falcons should re-evaluate how much they allow Vick to run the ball. They paid this guy to pass the ball not to run and scramble every play. A run every now and then is fine but when it comes down to it, his paycheck for his postion is to pass the ball to get the ball in the air for touchdowns, not to make teams fear him because he has some speed. That should be a good attribute and something to be aware of, not a threat he has

Vince Young comes to mind.
Almost any black QB is or was a "threat" to scramble. Most "scramblers" use their running ability to buy time to become better pocket passers, like Steve Grogan (who?). Vick has used his legs and not become a decent passer.
A guy like McNabb or McNair develops an arm one must respect. Young might, or he can become a "Vick."
Although even a plodder like Brady might run occasionally, a guy like McNabb might be expected to run more often.
BTW, you incorrectly assume Vick's passing is a threat.:)
