This all depends on what kind of computers your have, are they laptops or desktops, are they running windows or other OS's. Are the machines equipped with wireless network cards?
If you were running Windows pc's, and pretty much any others as well, you would need:
2 Wireless network cards (PCI for desktop style computers, and PCMCIA for Laptop style)
1 Wireless router (Remember you get what you pay for, if you buy the cheapest you can find your results will be poor at best. I personally recommend Linksys, or D-Link)
And that's about it. The router should come with basic instructions on how to setup the security and what not, but that's the short version of what you will need.

What you need is to make sure both your computers have wireless cards. You also need a wireless router. The main problem with wireless is things can get in the way of the signal like a wall if its to think or made of brick or concrete. if this happens you may need to get a booster to boost the signal strength to make it around if you can. You also need to make sure you have the encryption set up on the wireless router too most wireless routers will take you through on how to do it. You need to do this if you don't want everyone that can view your signal to get on your signal and possible view your files. Wireless is the weakest security wise.
hope this helps.

Two Wireless adaptors, one on each computer --- Might be costly.
Best to Try using a USB Bluetooth adapter, one on each computer. Will be cheaper.,
The range of a Bluetooth device is 100mts, So make sure that the two machines and less that 100 mts apart.

You can do it with two wireless network cards (any type; usb, pci) and a simple non-expensive wireless router. Depending on speed needed you will want to go with a Wireless-G or even faster Wireless-N router. Wireless-D probably won't provide you with the speed your looking for.
