I find it very ironic how if a man wears a skirt he is derided, put down, and in some cases beaten. Yet we have guys walking around looking like thugs or pimps. Why is it more acceptable to look like this kind of person, yet men who have the guts to try something different (not accuallly crossdress, but just wear a skirt, as part of his normal ensamble, like women wear pants) gets nothing but BS from most people, runs the risk of losing a job, and so on?

Because sex and power are related. By dressing like a thug, you are pushing to the "power" side of the scale. Very acceptable.

By dressing like a woman you are pushing to the "powerless" side of the scale. Not acceptable.

It's not just a guy thing.... At a business meeting, I'm treated more respectfully if I wear a skirt suit than a dress, and more in a pants suit than a skirt suit. I'd probably get full attention if I grew a moustache. :)

In Scotland it is ok from what i have seen. In other countries there is a high amount of homophobia who just will not accept anything outside of pants and shirts for guys- no matter how it is laid out.

Thing is though- a few weeks back they had leggings as part of a mans ensemble on the Fasion Week.... Its a start, not a skirt, but a start

That's a good question. Society is crazy that way. Men and women have for a long time had defined roles, women in skirts; men wear the pants. Men should wear skirts, go for it.

This is NOT a smart a--ed answer. For the same reason as we cannot wear togas, or loin cloths to work.
Personally I feel that if it in the tradition of a kilt, ( not a dress or mini) with proper leggins and shoes, that it should be acceptable.
NAME, have you ever worn a Kilt? They are VERY comfortable.
