I feel it is a bane because no useful things are discussed in that community.
I don't find any difference between a normal chatting and orkut.
I feel youngsters are wasting their time on that, instead they can at least come to yahoo answers and know some thing which they don't know.

It is a boon as long as we are trying to revive old ties.But other than that I don't find anything useful in orkut

But as its being misused recently..
I think its boon or bane depending on your view towards it & for what reason you are using it for..

its kinda boon-kinda bane.
we can stay in touch with our friends from our work place/school where ever they are. it is useful only if they are scattered in many places, its a boon
but if the people are near by and you meet them every day, you are wasting your time and electricity, its a bane.

i'm meeting a lotta ppl on orkut whom i can't find anywhere else - i just scrap them...., for me its a boon.
but seriously speaking, it should be bane because orkut seems like 'out-of-control' as there is no such authority which actually can LOG the user actions. I mean you can't even put your profile photograph for saTan's sake....., ppl are saving it on their computer......
If someone's ready to block all these....., i'm with you.
