send the landlord a bill with your estimates and that your having it fixed and taking it off the rent........

it might be faster than the rental authorities
it is winter........and..you should have heat..

you are paying rent???
is the landlord paying the heat and electric???
if your not paying your rent?? the landlord sometimes messes around with the heat????
reduces the heat to a barely liveable amount....
it is the landlord's way of saying..rent was due and not paid...

so not sure..what has happened..but maybe the landlord will allow you the repair.........and discount that off the rent..if all else is in order.....

ask........
pick up the phone and ask...
assuming all is in order........

You can contact the management company that owns your property and complain, or you can always enlist the help of the Better Business Bureau. Through both you can file a complaint, but the BBB keeps it on file as public record. It's a more formal way of spoiling someones business reputation. Before going to the BBB, check up on them. Get online and do a general BBB search of the property name or the landlord's name. If there is already dirt on them you can use that to your advantage. Good luck!

Depending on where you live... Call the Department of Housing, or call the County Clerks Office and ask. Call Town Hall, call anyone in the Town or city you live in to find out. They will direct your call to the correct department.

Contact HUD at
www.hud.gov
they are helping me with an issue with my landlord. They have an online form you can fill out and if they feel that you have a valid complaint they will write and telephone you.

Depends on what state you are in. In NYC, you just dial 311. Look in your phone book under government agencies and find something on housing.
