Competition is very time consuming and it takes A LOT of effort. You have to dance for hours just trying to perfect one dance. Ask at your studio how you can compete and i am SURE that will help. GOOD LUCK AT YOUR COMPETITIONS.

Ballroom: There are competitions all the time and they have many classes, some for beginners, so even if you have only been dancing for a month, you can compete and even win. Contact your local studio or university for more info, or look online.
Swing: This is my dance. There are plenty of competitions here. You just have to sign up to compete, but if there is a money prize, you usually have to be pretty good to place.
Just ask around at places that you dance. Walk up to the best dancers in the room and ask if they know where you can compete.

you have to be pretty darn good. either that or go to a dance school where everyone sucks so that the standards are low.

a great song, flashy/creative costume and a dazzling facial. plus a good kickass routine might not hurt to go with it.
