The Triangle (Raleigh, Durham, Chapel Hill) in North Carolina is a great place to live. There are tons of employment opportunities, shopping opportunities, museums, restaurants, bars, parks, trails, doctors, and even educational institutions (Duke, UNC, NC State just to name a few). You are only a few hours from the beach and a few hours to the Blue Ridge Parkway and there is a major airport centrally located to all 3 cities.

Of the 3 cities in the Triangle, I would pick Durham because it's the most diverse and there is a very progressive attitude overall. It has its upscale places and its down to Earth places. Chapel Hill is beautiful and charming, yet crowded (it's small) and expensive. Raleigh is nice but it's massive but the traffic is bad at times. It's nice to live in Durham and have easy access to Chapel Hill and Raleigh.

Oh, the weather is nice here too. The winters are usually fairly mild (we consider 40 degrees cold) and the summers are usually bearable, although it can get humid. Spring and fall are both incredible here!

Good luck with your search!

NYC. So much culture from over 100 nations. You could find a cuban-vietnamese restaurant, you could find art deco 1920 art galleries, and nightclub with hot young bands. Night life is all night, starting at 8 p.m. and ending at 8 a.m. with thousands of clubs for every taste. Of course, to live in Manhattan is way too expensive, but there are a lot of places to live in Brooklyn and Queens. For the summer, you could go to the soft sanded beaches on Long Island and catch an outdoor concert at Jones Beach Theater on Long Island.

Any of the big cities in California or Florida or any of the above cities.

Keep in mind that some of these places are very expensive to live. Try visiting before you move there. If you enjoy the vibe then its right for you. Make sure you are ready with a job, place to live before you move. Rent month to month or 6 months in case you change your mind.

Good Luck

Seeing that you like beaches, I would say either LA or Miami. Miami for Art Deco, beach scene, great cuban food and club scene.
LA for the whole hollywood thing, great beaches and fabulous restaurants.
