Not a Pittsburgh fan, but I would say one of the very best yes. For his age he shows incredible knowledge of the game. He's very talented and very humble which are awesome traits when combined. Many of his teammates have commented that he does things without thinking sometimes which shows a great feel for the game in general. He's going to be a great player for a very long time.

Yes Sidney is the most talented player in the NHL. Some people don't like to hear that because they want people to pay their dues before pinning them with a "best" tag (play for 10 years first). He does whine a bit, but not as much as last year. And yes the whining is his youth coming through; I'm told that Gretzky was a whiner his first few years too.

There are several good players right behind Crosby. Players like Thornton, Ovechkin, and Kovalchuk are fun to watch.

Not a chance is he the best player in the NHL. Crosby is a whiner or has everything delivered to him on a sliver plate. Don't get me wrong, the kid has talent, but he's got things way too easy for him and gets treated differently. If he could throw the hits, not cry about everything and earn the respect without bitchin about things, possibly. Till then he's no where near the next Gretzky or Orr.

have you seen his stats? Yes, no question he is the very best in the NHL.

He is 10 points ahead of everyone else in the scoring race and plays for a team that would be less than average without him. His stats are very close to those of that other great one (gretzky) when he was the same age. When you add in how much the game has changed since wayne was 19 ( goaltender equipment, butterfly style, the trap defence, defencemen who can skate, team defence and back checking ) that is an AMAZING feet!!

I have to wonder how good a 19 year old "greatzky" would be without the supporting cast he had in todays game!

=)

Yes, Crosby is the best player in the NHL right now...just look at his stats...and being accompanied with the likes of Staal, Malkin, and Recchi only increases his stock.

I don't think he is yet. To be the best player and have a respectful career - he needs to play consistently for the next 10 yrs. He's only played 2 seasons and yes he's impressive but he won't beat the Great One.

You are so wrong on both aspects of your ridiculous statements, thus the best hockey player/crooner/bad actor is by far Bing Crosby of the Hollywood Misfits;)

You'd be afraid too if you were a flyers fan and had many years ahead of you to look forward to Crosby beating the crap out of your team.

Definitely....when he stops crying for momma every time he gets a lovetap. And I'm not talking about the stuff that's being aired repeatedly. Watch him play closely sometime. He cries and whines whenever an opponent's stick touches him.
