Your question isn't completely clear. If you're asking how long it takes to become good at it, there's really no answer, because you can always improve. Note that if you learn Modern Tango (International style) or American ballroom tango and then learn Argentine tango, you almost have to unlearn some of the former types in order to "get" the last, then amalgamate them to a degree and start over to construct a personal style of your own.

It depends on how long you decide to take it, and how much of it you want to learn. If you want to learn the basics to be able to dance it and have fun all you need is like 6 group lessons and maybe one private lesson with an intructor. So we are talking about 4-6 weeks. If you want to keep making it more and more beautiful - then there is no limit to how long can you keep learning it.
There are 3 types of Tango that are most popular in the US now: International, American and Argentine. Argentine is different enough from the first two, as WWD pointed out. If you try to grasp them all it can be confusing, but I don't think you need to unlearn anything. It is more like treating them as completely different dances that are danced to the same music. I dance all 3 types. Try any of them, it's great fun.

Depends on how long the song is, also, the condition of the dancer, or dancers.
