I would go with Ireland in the list (none or minimal damage caused by them to other countries and civilizations).

UK, Italy (Rome), Prussia (Germany) are countries that have had most impact on the world. Much of that is negative though.

I think a glorious nation is one that accomplished tremendous things, was prosperous, and is generally well thought of after its passing.

France, I think, has been far too unstable to be considered glorious. Spain has its years of being under foreign occupation and the Spanish Inquisition against it. Italy had too much internal strife after Rome until the 19th century to count, Prussia never managed to accomplish any tremendous tasks, Ireland, again, never made the rest of the world go "oh, wow!", the US is a new comer, and our glory years were really from 1920-1970. We haven't done anything grand since we walked on the moon. Israel is too new, Arabia has never been unified.

That leaves us with the UK. I think it might have to have the most glorious history. Toynbee began his "A Study of History" with it for a reason.

No where has an island nation without ridiculous amounts of natural resources of its own affected the entire world. From China to Canada to Africa to Australia, the UK changed the world.

You neglected to mention China and Japan, by the way. I think they might just rank 3 and 2, respectively.

I don't think there's any basis for comparison of these countries. The United States, for example, is a relatively young country compared with a few of the others. IMHO, they all have some kind of glorious history and should be proud of certain aspects of that history and ashamed of other parts.

china has the most glorious history. the writer of this question is very eurocentric. china had thousands of years of history, centuries of golden ages, and numerous cultural and scientific advances. none of the above countries surpasses it in any of these respects.
