Thrush is normal in newborns. It comes from the milk laying in their mouths and it is almost like a yeast infection in a baby's mouth. My daughter had it twice when she was a baby. They gave her drops to go in her mouth and it cleared up after that. It can take a little to get it cleared up. And if you are breastfeeding then they will give you cream for your nipples as well so that you aren't reinfecting them when they nurse. It is okay they can give the baby medicine to fix it and then it is normally gone.

My son got thrush at about 4 months old. The dr treated in with an medcian called Nystatin. I would put 1ml in each cheek 4 x's a day, until gone. It is a type of yeast infection and most babies generally get in from antibiotics. It can make their poor little mouths very tender and they can be fussy and make it difficult for them have a bottle and or nurse. With my son I would try to make sure that he had some baby tylenol in his system to relieve any pain he may have

Thrush is treated with oral Nystatin which you get a prescription for from the doctor. It works quickly and is very effective. Thrush is painful for the baby and affects how much they will eat because their mouth is very sore. I'm not sure how babies get it, but I know if you breastfeed, you can keep passing it back from your breasts if you do not put the medicine on them also. Call the doctor right away.
