if they are taking your tax returns, and doing leins, you owe a pretty good penny on the arrears amount.
to find what you owe, and how, call your caseworker and request a print out of the case (as far as they go) for payments/balances. to re assess anything, just call your caseworker and request a review hearing. if they refuse, contact the Regional Federal Child Support Office.
you cant correct anything by phone calls; they are ignored, denied and forgotten. you have to put it in writing ONLY. its a pain the the az, but its the only way to correct this.
if you really dont understand it, they should explain it to you, and send you payment print outs so that you can see it.
thats just wrong.

the state is usually accurate, concerning child support. But if you have any questions, you don't need a lawyer. you can go down to the court house, and speak to your case worker, (yes, you have one) Then can go over the whole thing with you, and maybe there is a mistake, they'll catch.
Or you might be able to pay more throughout the year, to spare your tax return from getting withheld.
have you ever had a paternity test?? You might want to look into that.
You should take a day off, from work and spend it at the court house. It takes a while, and there are a lot of lines and paper work. But you should be able to find someone who can help you!

You need to go to your local child support office and talk to someone in person to go over your case. the telephone circus will never work for you. As far as getting your money back, good luck. You son is 17, if he goes to college you are still responsible for his support, hope you knew that. Until he drops out, even one term, you are responsible. I pay $218/week and yes it sucks but thats part of being a responsible parent/father.

Did you retain an attorney to look into it? When I was 22 my father was notified that he hadn't paid his child support for me in 4 years, he had to have an attorney address it for him because they wouldn't listen to him or accept his letter stating I had been legally an adult for 4 years. Now, Michigan doesn't even allow parents to make the payment. Its automatically deducted from their bank on the day they're paid or the employer has to garnish their wages.

Get a lawyer or speak to the child support expert at your local courthouse.

The same thing is happening in CA. The gov't has gone insane and needs to be replaced. Not sure how we can make that happen, though.

Another whining father who is a deadbeat. If you had done what you were suppose to do from day one, you wouldn't have this problem. You are going to have to pay what you own, like it or not.
