Sometimes my Ipod won't switch off when I press down and hold the 'play' button. Once I even had to let the battery run down so that it automatically switched itself off, that can't be good for the battery though. It doesn't happen a lot, just every now and then, but it's infuriating!!! Somebody help!!!

My ipod does the same thing almost every time I go to turn it off. The problem is your trying to turn it off while the ipod's Hard drive is spinning up this normally happens right after you stop your music or a movie. It won't turn off until the HD is finished wait about ten seconds and try again. I would also recommend turning on the sleep option on your main menu so you don't have to press and hold the play button because it will ware it out if you don't. If this doesn't work try resetting it By turning on then off the hold switch then pressing and holding the center and menu buttons at the same time until the ipod displays the apple logo/
I hope this helped.

Well, we now know the first person that answered obviously has "the clap".

Anyways, you may need to try to do a restore from itunes. If none of the other options work, that's the way to go.

When you have iTunes open and your iPod connected, click on the iPod icon on the left side menu. On the summary tab, you'll see a section that says Version with a button that says Restore. Before you do this, close out any unnecessary programs that are running. This will also remove any songs that you have on your iPod, but you can just re-sync it when the restore completes to put them back on.

You need to hold down the menu and center buttons at the same time until your ipod resets. Apple's website has all kinds of tech support for ipods.

Don't panic. Its not a biggie. Sometimes iPods do that. If you have the power saver activated, try just putting it on pause and then putting it on "hold". it will switch off automatically depending on what you have the power saver set to

best thing to do is to take it into the shop.

by the by, letting the battery run down from time to time is actually good for it, but I can't remember why.

Hold menu and middle button at same time to reset. Hold middle and left for black text mode.

That is unusual. If you have the ability to hook it to your computer or speaker system, try that.
