Why are "bisexuals" (I'm not sure I like the word), ostracized by the homosexual community?

I feel many people think of people who have sex with both genders are "uncle toms".

Thoughts? Feelings?

The reason I ask is because I read a question that ask if you are "gay". And a woman said that she was "bisexual" and someone gave her a thumbs down...but everyone how just said they were "gay" got a thumbs up.

That subject bugs me the most. Mostly because I am bisexual. I am a true bisexual. I tried being just a lesbian because I thought I was in denial too but the fact is, from time to time I need a man. I love women and I also love men. They are two completely different creatures, but wonderful just the same. Bisexuals are treated with much disdain in the gay community. Its us, the bisexuals, and the Republicans I think that are the most ostracized. The thing is is that what gay and lesbians many times forget is that not all people accept them either, which is why I dont understand the hypocrisy. If it bothers someone that you're bisexual its more a personal problem that they have to deal with rather than a problem with you. Acceptance cant be limited by popular vote.

For some gay people, the term "bisexual" reminds them of a time in their lives when they tried to be with the opposite sex. Often, remembering this painful and awkward time can cause them to forget that many people really are bisexual, and that sexuality in general is more of a scale than compartments.

I don't feel that they are ostracized by most gays and lesbians, though. Personally, I wish I had more bisexual friends. The open-mindedness and flexibility is refreshing.

Well you know what they say bi for now gay later. hahaha

Many people believe that bisexuals are in denial or in transition to accepting their homosexuality. I use to call myself bisexual because it was easier to say that than I am gay, which I can proudly say now. However, there are people that truly are bisexual. Human sexuality is not black and white. So to conclude with my answer those people that were saying thumbs down are just very cynical of any one that says they are bisexual because a lot of the time the bisexual is really gay and in denial. Ok?

Yes now a day there is many problem is associated regarding the Bisexuals, Actually Being bisexual means we have the potential to be attracted to people of their own gender or another gender. Some bisexuals, like me, may be attracted to different genders in a different way; but basically, we are capable of loving more than just people of one specific gender. Now i hope u will understand.

Gays hold some laden resentment for bisexuals because bisexuals have the option to hold a traditional relationship and thus avoid social ostracization.

Also. Gays and straights tend to think bisexuals are straight but just curious and experimenting. They assume bisexuals won't follow through with a long-term same-sex relationship, so they refuse to recognize bisexuals as different from straights.

I'm not exactly a fan of the term bisexual. I prefer to consider myself gay AND straight instead of assuming it's mutually exclusive.

most gay and lesbians i know respect bisexuals. the thumbs down was probably given by a straight person who is homophibic.

yes, some bisexuals use their bi as an excuse to cheat or ask their spouse for extra sex on the side from others..

but many bisexuals are looking monogamous love from one special person.

Bisexuality is "safe." It means that you can practice homosexuality and still tell people that you could one day be straight again. I came out as bisexual first also.

I think there are plenty of people who experiment with the same sex, and that's one thing and that's a transition period, a period to find out who you are. But I question adults especially who think they can be in a relationship with a woman one day, and a man the next...
