I downloaded a rar file however when i click on it windows says select program what is going on

RAR files are compressed files, like ZIP files. You can use AlZip to read this type and MANY other types of compressed files (zip, ace, arj, etc.).

When that screen comes up it should let you go to the internet...the program it will most likely tell you to download is WinRAR ...after you install the WinRAR, the file you want to open should be opened by the WinRAR...

You have to download WinRar, and then they work the same way as a zip file.

Use the software winrar and extract it using that software. If it says no archives found that means the file is either corrupted or damaged.

rar file is a compressed file just like zip files. so u need a program to extract files from that.
u can download peazip from (it's a freeware)

To open compressed files (zip rar jar iso 7z cab uue gz....) you have to use WinRar. With WinRar you can easily decompress files and folders.

you need to have winrar installed in your pc.. winrar will be able to extract the file, and the file extracted is probably the file that you were hoping to install..
