Maybe if Iran was responsible for 0.00% of US casualties I would see your point. But because they're "ONLY" responsible for 11% you think they should be left alone? Say that out loud and listen to how ridiculous you sound!
FACT: Iran denies that the Holocaust ever took place.
FACT: Iran said Israel needs to be wipe off the map.
FACT: Iran supports Hezbollah, a terrorist group in Lebanon.
FACT: Iran is enriching uranium to develop nuclear weapons.
FACT: Iran recently tested medium range ballistic missiles.
FACT: Iran has threatened a terrorist war against the US.
FACT: Iran is fighting US forces in Iraq!
So to you and your liberals chums, exactly what would Iran have to do in order for you to consider them a threat????

1.) Nobody WANTS to start a war with Iran, just like nobody WANTS to get surgery to remove a cancer. It's simply something that could potentially be needed.
2.) We've never gone to war because of the amount of people they've killed. That's just revenge. We usually go to war because of the danger or threat that is STILL there.
3.) Iran has threatened to blow Israel off the face of the Earth, funded terrorists who've killed our troops, and continue to look into nuclear power despite it going against UN sanctions.
4.) I'm concervative, and I'd VERY MUCH want this to end in peaceful resolutions, however I am not going to play dumb and believe war isn't still on the table because when Iran plays with fire, they're going to get burned.

11 percent is 11 out of 100. Do you even know 11 people that like you? If you do then how would you feel if they were all casualties. Wether KIA or WIA? Think about it. Might change you point of view, but I doubt it.

You know, I think that there are a great many people in America that have mis-understood the reality of global terrorism as practiced by our actual opponents, Islamic Fascism. "Terrorism" has never pulled a trigger on a rifle, fired a rocket launcher or set an IED device as a trap to kill people or flew a plane into a skyscraper (oh yeah, remember that?). Whoever did those things, the person, the individual did so because they are "believers" in a system of theocratic governance that can only be described as "Islamic Fascism".
An idividual can "believe in" or not believe in "terrorism". No one can deny the gruesome reality of the Twin Towers, Spanish trains or the absolute finality of a successful car bomb.
Having said all that, I believe that the only people that could possibly resort to quantifying the effects of Islamic Fascist terroristic attacks, can only be in pretty much absolute denial of the reality of the war we are engaged in. War is NOT something that you manage from the quiet offices of CPA's, political committee, "public opinion" or by the impersonal disregard of human sacrifice by describing them with percentage points!!!
That is a very slippery slope that will wind us all in the mire of fear and emotional traction.
If I have any objection to the "manner of execution" of our war against Islamic Fascist, it's that it has become subject to the vagaries of "public opinion" and "political influence". Regarding this war and its persecution, the one thing I respect about Bush is that he has been more steadfast than not in his insistance in taking action to continue to take the fight to those that would seek to take away our freedoms. Whatever else you wish to say about President Bush (much I would agree with by the way), you can't say that he has forgotten 9/11 or the very real people that died that way. Do you remember the CNN film of people dancing and rejoicing in the middle east? Remember that? No, I didn't think so.
I become so exhausted with the multitude of people (liberal and conservative) that resort to redicule and name calling (I've been guilty of it myself) in order to have an opportunity to glibly state (directly or by inuendo) some watch word or phrase of their belief system.
Please don't secumb to numbing yourself with impersonal numbers, statistics, opinion polls and percentage points. Our national policy is to fight Islamic Fascist who practice terrorism to further their cause wherever it is found. Why do we do this? Because there are no "armies", no "borders" and no "uniforms". And if we do not aggressively resist, and yes fight a war against this evil threat, then how else will be defend ourselves against it?
I do not want to see another major attack on US soil, or anywhere else for that matter. But sometimes I think that maybe we as a population have become numb to the threat to the point that we no longer believe there is a war and that our soldiers are over there just dying for nothing. God forbid, but what will it take for you to see the reality of this threat and an ongoing evil? Another 3000 Americans slautered? How about a nuclear attack with the casualty "statistics" in the 10's of thousands. I don't know how high a percentage of American dead and wounded will be high enough for some of us to actually believe the threat is real. After all, 10's of thousands of Americans is actually a very small percentage of our whole population. 3000 (round numbers) is an even smaller percentage. Maybe the length of our memories are directly tied to the size of the percentage points of American casualties.
I think we would all benefit if we took a moment to remember, really remember how we felt on 9/11 and the days and weeks that followed. Come on now, try it. No really, give it a real honest effort to reclaim those thoughts, feelings, emotions...just like you first felt them. I know I will never be able to forget, ever. That isn't anger or revenge speaking. It was so many emotions that it would be hard to list them. So many questions...so many "Whys?" The people that caused that event to take place still exist in our world. They continue to plan and execute. One day, it will happen again. God help us then, and God help those that forgot, and in their amnesia, allowed politicians with agendas to manipulate their "opinions".

Only 11%........whew, I thought it would be higher. That isn't enough for you??? Maybe because we want to keep them in check. They have stated that they would like to wipe us off the face of the earth. That is enough reason in my opinion to want to control their nuclear program, do what we have to do to keep them in check and kick their *** when the time comes. Maybe they'll come to their senses before it goes to war but I doubt it. This mentality is part of their Psyche and hasn't changed over the past 2000 years. Why should it change now?
