Unfortunately, electric heating is the most expensive. About all you can do is ensure that the house is as air tight as possible to eliminate drafts and heat loss. Keep the window coverings closed at night and open them to let the sun shine through the windows during the day. Check you attic insulation and add additional if it is below R-30

We have electric too...
DON'T turn the heat off... this is one of the mistakes people make thinking this will save them money when in the long run ends up costing you more... instead try this.... set the thermastats at 60 during the day.. if the room is small you can probably get away with the temperature lower.. open the doors... you are only trapping the heat in the room .. with the doors open the heat spread thru out the house evenly when the temperature reaches the temp the heat doesnt continue running... do you have fans... turn the fans on... low or medium... heat rises... turning the fans on circulates the heat..... run washer and dryer, dishwasher during the night hours instead of daytime hours.
Trust me .. this work out for us... we lived in an all electric house many years...... hope this helps..

Suncloud heaters are supposed to be very efficient - try suncloud .com. They start about $500 but claim to heat 800 sq ft for pennies. If you are paying 200 a month it would not take long for the unit to pay for itself. Other than that keep curtains, sofas and electrical chords away from the overworked baseboards.

Some graet ways to save are either less heat or another form of electricity such as solar, hydro, or wind. Also when you leave your house or go to bed turn it down of off. Or if its still cold get a new heater or central air.

unquestionably no longer 14 gauge. The voltage tells me you like 2 potential wires and a floor. The amperage might tell me what length wires you like. For a house unit, you may in all threat desire a minimum of 12 gauge cord and a 20 amp circuit. Distance from the potential source could make a distinction in cord length too. The training that got here with the unit could show you how to already know what minimum length cord you like.

I had the same problem only worse, $500 a month. I figured at that rate in only a couple of months I could buy a gas furnace, which is what I did. By the end of winter I was only paying <$100 a month.

get new windows and contact your electric company they may be able to help you depending on your income to lower your bills. we have oil heat and ours bills are through the roof with all this cold weather and we have just installed new energy saver windows which you can also use to get tax deductions. it has helped alot and now we can keep our thermostat at a lower temp 67 deg. and still be nice and comfortable.
