Here is where it is going.
Meredith must be out of commission so that Ellis can die. Meredith said she would never help her mother die. This way she has no choice in the matter.
Her mother must die to set Meredith free to run her own life, leave if she wants to, stay if she wants to, marry if she wants to , stay single if she wants to and be the person she wants to, doctor or not. With this subtle change she can question everything including why is she with Derek. Why is she in Seattle? Does she really want to be a surgeon?
Derek is in love with her and her with him but is that enough given all the failed relationships around her?
This is her chance to prove to herself and to her mother that she is indeed some one special.
That is where they are heading.

I think that as well. The fact that Izzie and George are gone is so sad :( Lexi and Sloan too (not as bad). It is going down hill, since after the plane crash, and since George passed away. They are running out of ideas because (in all fairness) there is 191 episodes and 9 seasons. There is no way I'm going to stop watching either because its a GREAT show and I have been watching it from the very beginning. Yes, the new characters are just confusing and that really happened when the Mercy West Doctors and Nurses came in, that just made me mind boggled. Each episode had a moral and the way the patients accounted and contributed to that was great, and they kind-of still do that, but they have run out of good morals. Also I find that Meridith is (this is going to sound mean but...) MUCH MUCH too happy. In the beginning she was all twisty and kind of dark, now she really has too much confident and is over stepping her boundaries, which is good but I truly miss the old Meridith! Even though she is a good good person, I loved it when she was a tad selfish and her and Christina were the twisted sisters. So in all fairness, and to truly and simply answer your question.... Its not getting so much as boring but just as too repetitive. They need to find away to make it new, yet bring back the old characters (I WISH). The way when the main characters got sick was just so intense and interesting and they don't really do that much anymore... e.g. When Meridith drowned and nearly died. When Izzie Got cancer, and when George Died (They let that slide to much there should have been more on that, and should have been done after the focus was taken from Izzie). Oh And I REALLY miss Addison, like people says she needs L.A which she does, but she needs to come on more often, It makes it more intense!!! Plus, don't stop watching Grey's Anatomy, because their is a chance it will get better (HOPEFULLY)! <3

Meredith ends up in a coma for a few weeks she eventually dies then they donate every part of her anatomy to medical science, the story then continues with all her buddies having to use bits of her body to save other people, those bits then, take over the minds of the host bodies (like the film body parts) then all hell breaks loose and the series becomes watchable again, all be it for a slightly different reason. I´m sure E.R, Holby City, St Elswhere and the likes haven´t done that plot before

i think merediths near death experience is so that she understands that she doesnt really want to die. meredith seems unhappy and dark. this experience will make her change... i dont know. she'll realize how much derek love her and everything. derek did pull her out of the water that was obvious. but she is still dying and he couldnt save her. whatever im ranting.... we should all just wait and see for more episodes. we cant judge the show. let the writers do their job. i dont think the show is going to be canceled. it has top ratings. ok this is enough rambling. : )

Completely agree with you. The show's creators dont seem to give a damn about any type of medical accuracy any more. She was under water for nearly an hour or half hour and suffered no brain damage? She just didnt drown?
PS Lord Z really called the episode and killing meredith's mom. He should definitely get best answer.

Disasters happen. It was an interesting catalyst to make a lot of things happen. To make McDreamy realize that he doesn't want to live without Meredith, and maybe propose to her. To completely end Addison/McDreamy. To possibly get Addison, McDreamy, and McSteamy past their crap and get over it. To make Christina face losing her best friend and possibly translate that to her relationship with Burke. Maybe she will act differently. To get Izzie of probation. To see Alex act like a human being and deal with situations he is not so comfortable with.
At the end of the arc, things are going to be different. It's going to change things and the rest of the season is going to reflect that. It's a more obvious solution to something all shows have to go through to get anyone to watch. If everyone stays the same, no one will watch.

Well, I thought I heard the words "devastating conclusion next week" or something like it, in the end when they were introducing the next episode, so I am all tight - I am expecting the worst... do you realize that from the very beginning she is narrating the whole story? this is perhaps where the twist will be inserted... You know, like the "Desperate Housewives" the dead chick is narrating the whole thing.... Brrr... But I do think that if they kill her, the show is dead too. and perhaps they're at the end of their script. I dunno, I am rambling here. It left me on the edge.

You don't suppose the show is heading for cancelation? This might break my heart, then again, it has not been as good lately. And the medical stuff is so unbelieviable.

Yeah. I agree. The whole ship wreck thing is a bit of a stretch for the show. Grey's Anatomy is basically General Hospital that comes on once a week during prime time.
