im due to get my period by next week the latest. i got extremely dizzy though yesterday afternoon, almost to the point of fainting. when i went to the bathroom, i noticed light brown and pink spots when i wiped. i thought it was already my period, but it stopped completely that night.

i went to the doctor today, she gave me a urine pregnancy test (which came out negative), as well as a transvaginal ultrasound. According to her, the ultrasound was too early to tell. we have been tryng to conceive the past month. i feel im pregnant, i just wish for a confirmation already.

how much longer before i should take another test?

I am surprised that your doc gave you a transvaginal U/S at all. It is too early to see anything before your missed period. The embryo at that stage is only a bunch of cells - quickly dividing though - and barely implanted in the uterus. It might have been too early for the urine test also. I know it is easy to say, but give it a couple of more days till you miss your period and test again at home. If it is still negative you are most likely not pregnant. However, if you have doubts you can ask for a blood test, which detects hCG sooner than urine tests.
Remember that sometimes when you want to get pregnant you can foul your body to believe that you actually are.

Well, one of my best friends live is Virginia and from what she told me it is standard that all women who test + on a HPT are required to have a transvaginal ultrasound at their forst visit. I am not from there and had never heard of that before. The only thing was that she tested early and found out a week before her period was due and she couldnt go for her dr visit until she was 2 weeks late. The Dr's office said they needed to wait so the ultrasound would be effective. I would say wait a few days and take a home test. You can always get a blood test too! Good Luck!

they could nonetheless degree the child with the belly ultrasound, yet I agree- a vaginal one this early in the game would possibly be even more beneficial advantageous. And certain, i have had them and they don't look pleasant, yet can supply some solid reasssurance. i'd say because you're higher probability, they are going to possibly do more beneficial and would finally end up replacing your date when they degree more beneficial.
