i have applied to do medicine and have had an interview but non of the unis have got back to me so im not sure what to do. i obviously meet the entry requirements as i wouldnt have had any interviews and i think i've got a variety of work experience so the only reason that i can think of for not getting an offer is competition. i'm not sure if to go through the graduate entry and if i do so which course would be best to do? i can apply abroad but im not sure how to go about it or i can take a gap year and apply next year but if i didnt get in this year what are the chances of getting in next year?

I have applied to university of manchester, university of leeds, king's college and peninsula medical school all of which are in england.

Dont you need a degree before you can study medicine in the USA?

Does anyone know any other forums I can get advice from?

And finally dont you think I will be wasting a year if I dont get into a medical school next year?

Check with the school to see the status of your application. Obviously med school is very competitive. If you have your heart set on becoming a doctor, don't give up! You can try again next year, your chances will be slightly better because that shows that you are really dedicated. If you don't want to wait another whole year, you can go to a Caribbean med school starting in May. They have rolling admission so they let in new students three times a year, May, August, and January. This means that you will get your MD degree faster than in the U.S. because you also take classes during the summer. They are easier to get into than U.S. med schools, but also they aren't as prestigious. As long as you study hard, and get good grades and Step 1 scores, you will be looked at as good as U.S. med school graduates for residency. You spend 5 semesters in the Caribbean and then do all your clinicals in U.S. hospitals (or Europe if you want). You are fully elligible for U.S. government financial aid, and the good schools in the Caribbean (Ross, AUC, and St. George's) are certified to practice in all 50 states. Good luck!

You don't say where you applied. For one thing, contact those schools and ask them what is your status, since you have had an interview. Also, it all depends when you had your interviews, perhaps you have to give them more time to inform you as to whether or not they have accepted you. Call and ask. There are so many Medical Schools in the USA that you might want to consider. The University of Vermont; Columbia University, New York University, Mount Sinai School of Medicine, Vanderbilt University, Albert Einstein School of Medicine, Harvard, Yale The University of Cincinnati. The university of Chicago, Emory University, Baylor University and so forth. Go on line and check out some of these schools. Going abroad is possible but remember that there may be a language problem unless you go to a School In England or Ireland if English is you primary language. Good luck.

Maybe they have a number of applicants to get through, so I would wait until a little while but don't give up hope. If you feel the need to go through the graduate entry way, then do so., as for which course, have a word with others what would be best. who have gone through that you may be in contact of or who can give advice to you.. If you choose a gap year, I think you will just have as much chance of getting in as this year.

Dont worry i am sure you'll get in to one of your chosen unis. And if you dont then take a gap year and find some work so when you go next year your student loan will be low as you can save money from your job. Thats at least £8,000.

How would anyone know your chances? Try this year and if you don't make it try again next year or some place else.
