Terrorism seeks publicity for its cause by using horrible crimes forced upon humanity. How many americans and those around the world knew of Bin Laden before the attacks on 9/11, and, now, of course, he is a household name. Did Bin Laden really win?

AL QAEDA WAS DEFINITELY SUCCESSFUL. We are still feeling the effects of the September 11th attacks today. Here's why:

* Stock market shut down for over a week following 911.
* Dow jones lost 684 points & the largest dollar loss in history
* Largest restructuring of the federal government in 60 years.
* Creation of the Dept Of Homeland Security
* BILLIONS spent on additional security
* Dozens of airlines filed for bankruptcy
* Tourism took a nose dive for at least two years
* Random searches at airports are now commonplace
* Bags are now searched at amusement parks and stadiums.
* No liquids allowed on planes (now only in small amounts)
* Country now more divided than ever over Patriot Act
* Hatred against liberals for being too soft.
* Hatred against republicans for being too trigger happy.

and last but not least.........

* Largest deficit in history in order to pay for everything.

This country will feel the effects of the 911 attacks for YEARS to come. Bin Laden was absolutely successful in what he set out to do. Our country is more divided than ever.

I don't think Bin Laden is a publicity seeking Paris Hilton!

Everyone seems to forget that Bin Laden and his buddies were created by the US government.

Our pit bull's attacking the hand that feeds it!

Well, "Adolf Hitler" was a household name, but nowadays you couldn't even pay a German parent to name their kid Adolf.

Did Bin Laden win? Well, now he is reduced to living in caves with uneducated, unwashed Afghans and Pakistanis. He can't use a phone for fear of detection, he can't watch tv. He can't listen to the radio because there is no signal in that topographic region.

We can only hope that someone bought this sad sack a portable DVD player......... and filled it with Pauly Shore movies.

We knew about him long before 9/11 (where were you anyway?) but it is a valid point. He won a tactical victory without question. But you can win on tactics and still lose your butt stratigically.

He was in rather that position when the Taliban got totalled because of 9/11. Now? You have me.

He 'has ' been successful in turning the world sideways. Your right, no one knew him before 9-11. He hasn't completly, been the success he invisioned, but yes he has drawn world attention.

If you call living in a cave while being riddled with disease on a dialysis machine successful, then yeah, super successful. And I wish the same level of success to all our enemies, both foreign and domestic.

The goal of terrorism is NOT publicity. It is to change the world through fear and intimidation.

Depends how you define success. If it's living in fear the remainder of your live--looking over your shoulder, living in caves and sending messengers to communicate I guess your answer would be yes.

With the help of this administration, more people have been radicalized in the past six years, than in the previous 200.

He may not have won, but Bush is unwittingly helping him a great deal.
