Should socks match the pants or the shoes?

i don't think it really matters that much b/c people usually don't pay that much attention to your socks. But if you'd have to go with one, the socks should match your shoes. Matching woth your pants may be a bit too matchy- matchy and make you look like you put waaayyy too much thought into it

if you are wearing jeans just wear white socks
but if your wearinga suit wear socks that match shoes
