I would think your alternator but since you say the car turns over after it stops running then I doubt it is that as your battery would be dead. Your fuel filter could be clogged or your fuel pump could be having problems, I would check them first.

ill go with coils. Ive seen that problem before with other cars. But in reverse. When the engine heats up its fine but its hard getting it started while cold. If your handly with a few tools I would recommend pulling the coils and looking at thier condition. If thier bad replace them, if they look normal then have your whole car tested for electronic problems.
Another thing that might help us is, does it jerk before it stops? is it auto? I had the same problem with a nissan and it turned out to be a faulty pressure plate in the transmission.

It can be frustrating to find a problem that doesn't exist at the garage. I would say that your best option is to take the car do a dealership and let them run a diagnostic test on the car. This normally cost around $100.00 but can be cheaper than replacing parts at random trying to find the right one. After they locate the problem take the car to your local mechanic and have him change the part if you do not want to pay the dealership a large price to do it.

Does it happen while you are actually driving down the road or say idling at a stoplight or something? I had a '95 Grand Prix that would do that at stoplights...my solution? Traded it in for a newer car.

It sounds to me like your having slightly electric powered matters. in case you do no longer finally end up with any service warnings from this than i'd could say you're coping with a short interior the ignition equipment or a unfastened cord of varieties. i'd think of that a cord is maximum probable it pondering you probably did no longer talk approximately blown fuses . at nighttime along with your lights furnishings off have a chum start up it mutually as you look ahead to small sparks which would be close to the skill pak and additionally any the place close to the grounded part of you motor vehicle(meaning the physique, firewall, block, fenders.........)perchance even interior under sprint perchance naround the steerage coloum Even verify for melted wires which could be grounding out and taking skill far flung from the ignition equipment. with a bit of luck thats no longer it additionally verify for unfastened connections on the skill pak (distributor)and different ignition proper plug in places. additionally yet no longer as probable, the skill pak itself. mutually as in kit the engine may well be pullin or pushing on a cord that's inflicting this subject wether in opposite, power, stopped or mutually as vacationing the subject seams to be tricking the workstation into thinking that the the vehicle grew to become into grew to become off mutually as the main wasn't. And the main would desire to return to the off place in the previous the vehicle would be restarted

if its not the fuel pump i bet its the coil.. it can break down when hot and work normal when cold......oh in modern fuel injected cars the throttle is controlled by the computer. you can pump the gas pedal all u want and it will NOT give you gas..all it does is open and close the air flap.
