The Shining would also get my vote. Nicholson was just awesome in that movie. Kubrick did a great job catching those chilling moments in the movie.

The scene that still makes the hairs on my neck stand up is when the mother is running around towards the end with the knife looking for Danny. She runs up the stairs and sees that butler(or whatever he was), and that guy in the dog suit(or pig, or something). I don't know why, but that picture with the wierd music going on gets me.

And, I love the end when the show Nicholson sitting frozen in the snow. Even then, he still had that p*ssed off crazy look on his face.

The Exorcist didn't really scare me that much. But I am an atheist, so I don't really subscribe to those sorts of things anyway.

I first saw The Exorcist when i was 7. I was so scaried i locked myself up in the bathroom. The second time i saw it i was 16 and i still thought it was scary as hell. The third time i saw it was some years ago and then i didn't found it that scary anymore. To me, the scarriest movies i have ever seen are:
- A nightmare on Elm street part 1
- The Shining
- The Blair Witch Project part 1
- The Lake County incident

The original Exorcist was incredible, I agree. I really like the Shining. It's such a creepy movie and you watch him slowly losing his mind. And Shelly Duvall is just creepy looking anyhow.

I was freaked out by Rosemary's Baby too. But I was pregnant when I saw it.

In my 'opionion' (sounds like a mixture of opium and onion!), "Carrie" is my favorite horror movie. I'll never forget the final scene and how I cleared my seat in the movie theater. To this day, I won't kneel down beside a grave.

Yes, I agree with your choice. I tend to prefer horror movies which play on your psychological fears, you know, the ones with people creeping about but you never see them, rather than ones with obvious monsters in them. I think we are all becoming very used to superb special effects, and unless a monster is very convincing and VERY scary, it just doesn't do it for me.
