I have a 1991 Lexus Ls400
My power streeing starts messing up when i push in on the brakes. But when i accelerate it is fine. But as i said when i push the brakes it is though i have no power steering.
I checked the fluid and it has plenty.
If you have any ideas of what this is please let me know!
Thanks so much

If you have power assisted brakes, it runs of the power steering pump. Your belt might be loose.

Have it checked, it may have plenty of oil, but the pump itself may be going bad. You feel it most when you hit the brakes, cuz the momentum of the car, and the tires turning, is decreased and thus you have to provide the strength manually in order to turn. When the car is going faster, the weight is pushed forward, so turning the tires is easier since you have the momentum helping out. Depending on the car, the pumps aren't to expensive, check the belts as well. Also, have the fuses and computer checked out as well. Everything motorized might be fine, but maybe a fuse is causing parts from working efficiently.

Double check your Power steering (serpentine) belt and belt tensioner. I've got an idea that as your motor rpm (revolutions per minute) drops the belt may be slipping. Just a guess though. I'd like to have had your cars make, model and engine size. Every one could have given you a better answer.
