I keep hearing about this War on Terror and how we have to change our behaviour, and make sacrifices, and how the govt. --- especially the executive branch needs extrodinary powers to fight this War on Terror.

When exactly will this war be won? What are the goals of this victory? Then, when do you think this country will be able to go back to peace time?

Three words. War On Drugs, that went well didn't it! When did we win that? I don't remember the victory parade.
You wage war on a country/people not on an idea. Terrorism is an ideology, you can't beat it with bullets and bombs. Education and an end to exploitation and poverty are the answers.

The "war on terror" is not a war that can be won; terrorism can only be controlled and minimized with strategic police work and a cooperative, global effort. One thing is certain: bullets will never defeat terrorism. We cannot truly "win" the war in Iraq, because the objectives for "victory" cannot be clearly defined.

1.) Dramatically less suicide bombings and deaths.

2.) Iraqi Army can defend itself. Right now they only get about 10% of the training our soldiers get. They need to get that up to about 70%

3.) The capture/killing of top Al Queda leaders stationed in Iraq.

4.) Iraq starts controlling and policing sectarian violence and the influence of Iran is completely cut off.

5.) Surrounding countries help in condemning terrorist actions, as oppose to funding them.

Iraq, 2009.

'With an angelic chorus, from heaven descended Ronald Reagan and Chuck Norris.

Reagan looked at George W. Bush in his body armor and war paint and said. "You don't need to kill Osama, just leave it as a responsibility for President Obama."'

That's how the Conservative views it anyway.

When the shia/sunni conflict in the middle east quits targeting US interests in order to disrupt the oil money that is going into the hands of "the other side".
The Palestinian/Israeli conflict stays within the middle east because we are giving funding to both sides.
