The older man is you. He is who you envision yourself to be when you are mature. He is slowing you down because he is much more wise, and is teaching you how to be a proper man. The excessive whiteness he bears is a symbol of peace and purity, that he means only the best intentions to you. Your running is your need to get somewhere in life fast, but it seems to be at the expense of your basic need to portray yourself as having it together.

Running and never get in the end to where you are going. I think there is something that you may want to happen in life, particularly with your career. You may be okay to go ahead and go after it . You will have a lot of help and wise advices on your pursuit but it is not clear whether you will achieve it or not. This is what i think.

in the old mans wisdom you well find that which you run for is not what you need .the tie was a reflection of your need to finish something you are putting off.you are allowing yourself to be controlled by the tyranny of the urgent .those things that we can easily put aside are the very things that need our attention the most slow down and you well see the old man in yourself for in your running you have lost focus of him in you .

The person who fixed your tie is trying to tell you that you need to relax and use your time more wisely if you want to get things straight in your life.

Isn't it the moment of most profound doubt that gives birth to new certainties? Perhaps hopelessness is the very soil that nourishes human hope; perhaps one could never find sense in life without first experiencing its absurdity.

The explanation is that dreams are 99.999% meaningless. Your dream probably fits in that category.

Don't waste time on such things. It leads to insanity.

The older man is representative of your father and your desire to be close to him, or like him, or have a father that it was easier to look up to, I'm not sure, I'd have to know more about your relationship with your father.

i am not a psychologist. but, my try in interpreting your dream, will be,
ahem.. have you got a father who is quite stern or quite
standard to rules in life? example: dressing, etc...?

If yes, this dream is just justifying what is in your real life.

=)
