Being gay or being suspected of being gay will get you kicked out of the military even if you can do something important, like speak fluent Arabic while we are fighting a war in the Middle East.

Bashing gays helped put an idiot like Bush in power and kept him there.

Churches in this country (and the world over) say that homosexuality is a sin, which as far as I know puts them just like murderers and rapists in Gods eyes and many of these churches are dedicated to keeping the homosexual community legally repressed, and thanks to voters in this country, they are doing a good job at it.

And I am willing to bet that an openly gay person could cure cancer, AIDS, stop every war everywhere, and singlehandedly reverse global warming, and this country still wouldn't elect them to the presidency.

So given all this, what difference does it make when one famous person says what the vast majority of our country shows by its actions and laws. Why does he somehow need to apologize?

I don't feel that Tim Hard away HAD to apologize. He chose to.
I also can see some valid reasons for the military NOT to enlist gays. For the gay person's own safety, try that reason! I believe it is easier to focus on your goal, training, task etc. if you're not worried about some gay guy checking out your ***, or trying to make a pass at you on the battlefield. I mean honestly, none of the other soldiers want a comrade with a tent pole in his pants. Any ones sexual preferences are "Private". I firmly believe it is wrong for anyone to publicly talk, march or whine about their private sex life whether straight or gay. Gay's just have to make it public. That's rude and gross. Marching because you're gay? It makes no sense. You call attention to yourselves, making your private life a disgusting public circus and then whine accusing that because your gay your treated different. Your reality check is in the mail.

"Being gay or being suspected of being gay will get you kicked out of the military even if you can do something important, like speak fluent Arabic while we are fighting a war in the Middle East."

It isn't that the individual is viewed as being flawed. It's the fact that the US DoD recognizes that there are a significant number of people in the military who are openly uncomfortable with that sort of thing, and to preserve the espirit de corps (The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few, in this case. Go figure.), the confirmed homosexual is released from their obligation. It isn't an attack on homosexuality, rather it's a protection of the homosexual from possible harm.

He mentioned what many human beings regrettably think of yet by no ability say out loud. I truthfully have a brother-in-regulation who's gay. i've got conventional him considering the fact that i became into 15 years old. I married his sister who has considering the fact that handed directly to the excellent beyond. he's a very sturdy guy. Has a sturdy heart and he's often there if ever all people needed something. i assume maximum human beings don't have that kind of touch with gay human beings so as that they do no longer incredibly comprehend what's that is all approximately. What Hardaway mentioned i'm advantageous got here from his heart. that is how he feels. there will be people who agree and human beings who disagree. one ingredient is for advantageous, he has killed any probability of having a renewed settlement with ESPN or the different activities community. they won't touch him with a 10 foot pole now!!

"stop every war everywhere, and singlehandedly reverse global warming"

you lost some credibility with this one. no one can do either, as both are beyond man's control.

besides- thats an awfully general statement...the way AMERICA treats gays? I've never treated a gay person that way at all. thats crazy.

making such general statements is not the best way to frame up your argument. you sound like you've been personally wronged or something.

the biggest difference is, even if some Americans THINK that way, they don't come out in a public forum and announce it! Anyone who makes such a public statement is going to be held accountable. thoughts are one thing, actions are another. if he'd kept his thoughts to himself, it wouldn't be a big deal. he expressed an ignorant, bigoted viewpoint, and this country seldom stands by for that.

Believe me- I am not big into Political Correctness. in fact, i hate it. But you have to know, in this country, when you say something so hateful and inflammatory, you're going to be held to a standard of apologizing.

He apologized not because he is sorry, but because the of the negative impact his comments will have on his career.

I have not heard any news broadcaster support his opinion.

Really thought, since when has an uneducated, ignorant jock's opinion have anything to do with what the majority think. His job is to bounce a ball. He is an idiot.

I believe that attitudes towards homosexuality are changing more towards acceptance than a negative judgement.

Homosexuality has been around since the beginning of history. Recent studies have proven that it occurs in nature as well.

Personally, I think that it is nobody's business what sexual practises concenting adults indulge in.

Let me clarify something: homosexuality is a sin. No one can be born "gay." It's what they choose to be, and instead of admitting it, they blame it on something or someone else.

Secondly, those churches who support homosexuals are hypocrites. Let me rephrase that: those churches who support the sin are hypocrites. God told us to love our neighbor as we love ourselves, but he didnt' tell us to love their sins. The priests who declare they are gay should immediately step down from leadership positions to show that it's their weakness and that they are just as ungodly as the murder in jail.

Thirdly, I personally have no problem with the few gays I know. The one I know is really funny and nice. However, I hate those who strut their stuff and aren't afraid of what people think of them. "I'm gay and you need to accept me" is a common saying in the gay community today. No, we as people DON'T need to accept them. We don't need to accept their sin.

Finally, I highly disapprove of places like Disney world that have a "Gay Day." It is disgusting in all aspects. It's disgusting to even see a guy and his girlfriend making out while in line for a ride that little kids ride, let alone two gothic lesbians. They need to contain themselves. Disney World might as well have "Murder Day" or "Rapist Day."

I hope you see my point of view on everything I discussed here for a fraction of a second at the least. Gays can go ahead and fight world hunger, the supposed "global warming" and do everything else you said. But the bottom line is if they are a horrible politician, and want to get elected just to prove that gays are the new straights, they will never get my vote.

Are gays forbidden to drink from the same water fountains?
Are gays prohibitted from voting?
Are gays forced to ride in the back of the bus?
Are gays forced to eat in a separate dining area?

And yes, a gay person could cure AIDS, by not spreading it.

the problem is you refuse to see the other side of the coin,

people have as much right to be homophobic as gays have to being homosexual, i personally have no problem with what hardaway said, he doesnt have to like gays, so long as he doesnt harm them,

as long as people need to get elected they will pander to the mojority, and the majority happens to see homosexuality as a threat

I may be wrong but I'm sure that the Bible says that "all men are sinners" and having an agenda against just certain sinners is evil and another sin.

What if he said whites, women, asian, jews, hispanic, catholic, elderly, poor, middleclass, people with disabilities or children, would we have tolerated it as we seem to have? I think anyone who has an opinion or an intolerance should keep it to themselves. Politeness is the grease that keeps society moving at a pleasant pace.
