It sounds like a reinfection. First and foremost, has your partner been treated as well? Although bacterial vaginosis is NOT a sexually transmitted disease, it, like yeast, may be passed back and forth between partners. In general, the first time it is diagnosed, doctors just treat the woman, as that is effective most of the time. However, if the infection keeps coming back, both partners must be treated. A course of metronidazole tablets is the common treatment. It clears BV in about 7-8 in 10 cases. Metronidazole vag*nal gel or clindamycin vag*nal cream placed inside the vag*na can be used if you prefer a topical treatment, or have unpleasant side-effects with metronidazole tablets.
BV recurs within three months in about half of women who have been successfully treated. If it does recur, a repeat course of antibiotics will usually be successful. A small number of women have repeated episodes of BV, and need repeated courses of antibiotics.
Tips to help prevent further episodes of bacterial vaginosis...........
Most episodes of BV occur for no apparent reason, and cannot be prevented. However, the following are thought to help prevent some episodes of BV. The logic behind these tips is to try not to upset the normal balance of bacteria in the vag*na.
Do not douch.
Do not add bath oils, detergents, bubble bath, etc, to bath water.
Do not wash around your vag*na too often. Once a day is usually enough.
Good luck, I hope your problem is soon resolved.

Man, I found out that all those infections we get are not STD's-they are something else! Doctors will just five you anti-biotics just to get rid of. I went on for years like that until I went to this one doc that solved it all permanently. Those infections can be causes by cysts on ovaries that are bursting periodically and causing that irritation. Endometriosis is just a tissue growth, but when I finally had the ovary removed (that was producing all the cysts and the uterus taken out I have never had a problem since.)
I'd bet you that's it for you, too. Okay you may still want to have babies so you don't want all that done. Well, before i had all that ddone I did try other stuff that did work ( I got sick of it though).
Birth control can put a stop to a lot of that crap. You can also have that minor surgery where they go in and clean you out real good( cysts, polyps, and growths removed) and be better for a while. It's up to you. More advice-- remember some docs don't want to fool with all that so they give you meds and send you on your way. Insurances don't want to pay for all that either. Isn't that cruel? Excellent tips- I wish someone would of told me years ago.

It feels like you've a yeast an infection - does it make you itchy? A yeast an infection is an imbalance of the plant existence on your vagina. frequent those plant existence are stability, yet in case you eat a tremendous variety of sugar, or take antibiotics, this can kill the micro organism, and leave the yeast to flourish. this is not sexually transmitted, and it would want to be cured certainly with an over the counter preparation. no matter if this is not itchy, it really is in uncomplicated words your frequent discharge. you are able to be conscious that about 2 weeks previously your era, there is so a lot more effective of it, and it is going to change into sparkling and stretchy, and that is your body telling you that you're ovulating. She might want to take you to the well being care specialist basically to be particular, and if you're uncomfortable, say what you pick. First go to the drug store and get Acidophiles capsules, when you're on anti biotics it will kill all the bad bacteria but it also kills the good stuff you need. Acidophiles will replace those and you avoid yeast infections, thrush etc. The pharmacist should have recommended that when he gave you the meds. Our pharmacist's where I work, do this on a regular basis. Another thing is eat yogurt, if you don't like the taste, put it into your cereal along with the milk. You can also buy a small container of non flavored yogurt and smear it down there, use a pad, this will also take care of bacteria. I know it sounds disgusting but it works, its natural and its cheap.
Good Luck,

if u think u have another infection,
don't delay, go back 2 the Docs.
yes u may need a stronger anti-biotic.
i've found cranberry juice can help with water work problems, a natural anti-septic 4 ur bladder.

i'm not surprised ur upset.
infections can make u feel very rough & unhappy.
go back 2 the docs, get some help.
talk 2 them about these reoccurring infections & about the toll it's having on ur overall health.
try a hot water bottle 2 help if ur in pain or a lovely warm bath, sit soak & have a lil cry.
might help u feel better.

sending u a cyber-hug.

Although I cannot diagnose your symptoms I can give you some help on alleviating the problem. Try having a soak in the bath and put lots of salt in the water (nothing else). Dont use any scents, talcs or soaps for cleaning this will irritate you more. This might sound yukky but even douching with your shower head can help. Drink lots and lots of water (cranberry juice - if u like it). Stress can make this problem worse so try and do some relaxation techniques.

Definitely dont use any scented soap/shower gel

If you are itchy you can put purfied water in a little spray bottle with a couple of drops of tea tree oil and spray as needed.

Do you have a lot of yeast in your diet? You may want to stay off alcohol, sugar, refined carbs for a while as these are all things that will feed candida. Caprylic acid tablets and psyllium capsules (which you can get from a good health food shop) will start to combat thrush

Thrush can sometimes be smelly.
Also, anti biotics can sometimes take up to a week after you have finished them to take full affect.
I would say its just thrush, brought on my Anti-B's but good luck at the docs anyway.
Try using a soap especially for ladies, they help you keep the correct pH level. Dont use bubble bath or have hot baths until your back to normal

Well its not cheap and it wont heal you but go to the store and by some like Summers Eve wash and make sure you wash down there really well, it has no perfumes or anything that will irritate you more. Also, there are some cooling wipes that will make it less irritated. My doctor has always told me to eat yogurt when i get stuff like that. There are creams and stuff you can use to lessen the pain but you need to get back to the doctor as soon as you can. I think you could use some of the stuff i mentioned along with whatever they give you.

You should go back to your doctor. Maybe the antibiotics you had were not the right kind - they may not have been strong enough, or the course may not have been long enough. Your doc should have a look at the thrush too. and you will get stuff for that also. Good luck!
