Slaughter the cattle because they are a huge drain on resources and dry the meat for later. With the corn, since you can plant the seeds dry some, eat some. They should never run out of food that way. If they allow the cattle to eat corn and consume resources they'll hurt themselves in the long run.

I would agree with btpage on this one. One can survive on the corn alone almost indefinitely once the dried meat runs out.
